Garahe Burger and Burrito Review

February 11, 2015

Garahe Burger and Burrito

The other day, my uncle sent me a text message asking me to come over grandma’s house. He said he bought me a quarter-pound burger and a shake. So I immediately went there and said, “Wow! Thank you! Is this from Minandal?” (Non-verbatim) But it was not from Minandal, it was from Garahe Burger and Burrito (garage). It was the first time I heard of the place and when I was able to taste the burger, I immediately felt that I must visit that place and write a review.

Garahe Burger and Burrito

So yesterday, I had “Garahe” for my dinner. Garahe is located at #7 San Jose Street, Hulo, Mandaluyong City, Philippines. Near Mandaluyong Science High School and Hulo Elementary School. When you see the Scissor’s Palace just go straight ahead. You might miss it, the place doesn’t look like a place for business. When my friend told me that it was “the” street, I told him “No, that’s impossible, this place doesn’t look like a place for business.” (Non-verbatim) To my surprise, it was “that” street. Well. You really can’t judge a book by its cover. Who would have thought a yummy (spoiler) burger would be waiting there for you?

The TASTE:

Meal and Drinks

Like I said, the burger was yummy!  I ordered Bacon Mushroom Burger (Single quarter-pound with bacon and mushroom) for only Php 70.00, (same with Minandal, only that Minandal has fries, but this one has bacon.) Tacos and a chocolate milkshake while my friend ordered Double Burger (Two quarter-pound beef patties) and a strawberry milkshake.

The Bacon Mushroom Burger tastes great. Better than Minandal because I love bacons. So yeah, that was a bias comparison, but don’t get me wrong, I love the cheese in Minandal’s burger. Both are actually good burgers. A bang for the buck. For only Php 70.00 you get a really good tasting quarter-pound burger. That’s something. As for the Tacos, it was Php 35.00. The Tacos I get to eat on the street are usually priced at Php 25.00 – Php 35.00. Same taste. Nothing spectacular. Well for the chocolate milkshake, I loved it. It tastes like Chuckie (a chocolate drink) plus the ice cream. (According to my friend it tastes like Chuckie) I am a huge fan of Chuckie, and that’s probably the reason why I love the chocolate milkshake so much. The best part is it’s only Php 40.00! I was also able to taste the strawberry milkshake, and what do you expect, it was really good! It tastes like the strawberry smoothie from Minute Burger plus the ice cream. Tastes like a legit sweet strawberry. (Probably a twin strawberry? Kidding.) As for the Double Burger, I expected my friend to feel full after eating it. But it wasn’t the case. For a guy who eats a lot, it was not enough to make him feel full. What made him feel full was after he drank the strawberry milkshake. The milkshake is really good. It was also the reason I felt full after eating.

The PRICE:

The price is again, a bang for the buck. Just like Minandal. I’ve noticed small burger chains are getting popular lately. (I guess I’ll be trying a lot of burger chains this year.) The burger and the milkshake is seriously a bang for the buck. Especially the milkshake. The presentation of the milkshake, doesn’t even look like it’s priced at Php 40.00. And just the milkshake alone, it’s seriously enough to make you feel full. I’m a fan of milkshakes and a good tasting milkshake like this, it’s pretty cheap. This burger chain knows how to do business. They offer good tasting food at an affordable price.

PRICE: 5/5

The AMBIANCE:

Garahe Burger and Burrito

It’s a garage! Don’t expect much, the place is small, not five-star type of restaurant. Just a neighborhood type of burger chain (that’s really getting popular) but it’s clean. Surprisingly, they have a comfort room, not really beautiful but it was clean. That’s what’s important. It may seem like a chaotic place, but it was peaceful when I went there. There was an effort to make the place look presentable, so I can give them a not so bad score here.

AMBIANCE: 4/5

The SERVICE:

The service was good. The crews were making jokes. And I think they were even giving me an extra special treatment because I took pictures with my DSLR and they probably felt I’m going to publish it somewhere. I told the guy who took my order that I will make a review about it so make the food extra presentable, but I don’t think he heard me though. I was expecting not to have my order served in a few minutes since the guy informed me there was a line. Surprisingly, my food was served in a few minutes! Garahe will really get a good score in here.

SERVICE: 5/5

The VERDICT:

I love the Bacon Mushroom Burger and the milkshake! I am certainly going back for more. If only the place were a good place to study, I would probably be there often since it’s just near our place. I would have love to study there if only they have a “study” ambiance. I hope in the future they will have a really good store since the place is getting popular, this is not impossible. All in all, I’d like to say the food is really good at an affordable price. I would love to bring my fellow bloggers here to review the place. They deserve it. The food is good. The price is good.

I’ve checked their Facebook page and I saw that they are soon adding something new in the menu. I am really looking forward for those. I suggest that they should add iced tea and colas too. And that they should at least put up a sign outside that they are “Garahe”. Some people not from the around might miss it.

Overall score:

TASTE: 5/5

PRICE: 5/5

AMBIANCE: 4/5

SERVICE: 5/5
