If you are dating a law student, I’m sure you know that law school is not easy. Every day, every class, is a torture. Law students would spend a minimum of 4 hours of studying for a 2-3 units subject. It’s very exhausting. And as their partner, we want to lighten the load that they are carrying whenever possible.
Now that Valentine’s Day is a few days a way, we want to surprise our partners, make them smile and remind that them that we are always there for them in their journey through law school.
And if you are dating a law student, you know that there’s a possibility that you may not be able to go out on a date on February 14. Maybe they have class, or maybe they need to catch up on their backlogs, or maybe they just want to catch some zzz. And that’s okay, you get that, but you want to make them feel special and let know that you support their dream. So here are my gift suggestions if you are dating a law student.
1. Reading light.
They probably already have a reading light. But maybe not. We want a separate reading light for every different needs. We want a reading light by our study table. We want a reading light that we can carry anywhere. We also want a reading light that we can clip on the headboard of our bed. We spend most of our time reading, and if you give your special someone a reading light, that person will remember you every time they read. Which is basically, all the time. I’m pretty sure a law student would appreciate a reading light, even if they already have one.
2. Fountain pens.
Yup. Fountain pens. We can never have enough fountain pens. It will also be nice if you will have it personalized by adding engraves. Most fountain pens offer free engraves when you purchase one.
A law student needs to have a very legible hand-writing, if possible, an elegant hand-writing. And fountain pens are usually the way to do it. We can never have enough pens. We digest hundreds of cases, a fountain pen from our special someone will surely be appreciated.
3. Books.
I know this sounds weird. But as a law student, we actually don’t have time to read for pleasure or hobby anymore. I usually get to read around 20-50 books per year, but last year when I entered law school, I didn’t even finish reading a single book. Remind that special someone that it would be nice to read for pleasure once in a while. Not only it will help them keep their sanity, it will also relax and take their mind off the stress of law school even for a few hours. Just make sure to find out first what type of books your partner reads!
Now these are just material things. Still the best gift that you can give someone you care about, especially a law student, is your care and understanding. Law students go to intense amount of pressure everyday. It’s very stressful. If you are dating a law student, they would love it if you would understand that law school is a very jealous mistress. Show that you care and love them, give them time, extend your patience and understanding, is the best gift that you can give to your partner, whether they’re a law student or not.
