For the bookworms out there! Did you know that you can actually buy second-hand books from the streets of EDSA now? The books are actually good books and in good condition. I interviewed the guy who was selling these books. According to him, the books are actually from his personal collection. I asked him why he is selling these books, “Masyado na ako maraming libro, kailangan ko ng magbawas. Mayroon akong one thousand plus books na sa bahay.” (I have too much books, I need to sell some of it. I have over one thousand books at home.) And I believe that he truly owns the books. He is a certified bookworm. He knows the awards of the books. He knows a background of the author, a brief summary of the book, and even a brief history of the book. He even discussed what is the award all about and how important is the award. If you are a bookworm and you have the same genre, you would enjoy talking to him since he knows a lot about his books. I actually admired him because of his knowledge of his books. He sells history books, biography books, classical, historical essays, memoir books, fiction and a few school textbooks.
Here are some of his books that are for sale:
- Billy Phelan’s Greatest Game – William Kennedy
-
Martial Law Diary and other papers – Danilo P. Vizmanos
-
From Exile to Diaspora: Versions of the Filipino Experience in the United States – E. San Juan Jr.
-
Roscoe – William Kennedy
-
Through the Eye of the Storm – Danilo P. Vizmanos
-
Weapons of Satire: Anti-Imperialists Writings on the Philippine-American War – Mark Twain
-
First They Killed My Father – Loung Ung
-
It’s Not About The Bike: My Journey Back To Life – Lance Armstrong

These are only some of his books. I am not even familiar with most of them since it is not my kind of genre. After meeting him, I can’t even proclaim that I am a bookworm anymore. I have to admit, the guy is a certified bookworm!
He sells his books along EDSA Boni South Bound, just outside McDonald’s. According to him, he is there everyday to sell his books.
To the guy selling the books, kudos! I admire you. I will certainly buy one of your books soon.
