The Bb. Pilipinas 2013: Golden Batch
Last Saturday, March 09 2013, I got tickets to cover the Bb. Pilipinas 2013 Talent Portion in Gateway Mall, Cubao, Philippines. 16 candidates out of 50 candidates performed in Gateway Mall Activity Area. Hosted by Binibining Pilipinas-Tourism 2012 Katrina Dimaranan and United Promotions Sales and Marketing Manager Gines Enriquez. They showcased different talents. Some danced, sang, and some did something different like hula hooping and magic.
What took my attention is Candidate No. 10, Miss Anna Carmela Aquino, an educator at San Beda College, 22 years old. She’s an alumna of Philippine Normal University. She showcased her talent by dancing with several pots on her head while chanting and wearing an Ifugao costume.
Candidate No. 31, Miss Maria Angelica De Leon showcased her talent by singing an opera song. She’s the daughter of the actor Christopher De Leon and Sandy Andolong. She took up Professional Cookery in New Zealand and has just got back to the country to finally make a name for herself.
Miss Zandra Flores, the Candidate No 3, sang “Loving You.” She is from Pangasinan. She studied in University of Bradforn in UK with a degree in Medical Sciences. She has been joining several beauty and singing contests abroad. Now, she’s trying her luck in the Philippines.
The judges for the pageant were Mr. Tim Yap from the Philippine Star Columnist, Miss Shamcey Supsup the Miss Universe 2011 3rd Runner Up, Mr. Bong Osorio the ABS-CBN Corporate Communications Head, Mr. Samboy Lim the Ginebra San Miguel Coach, Mr. Chit Guerrero the ABS-CBN Special Projects Head, RJ Ledesma a TV Host and Uno Magazine Editor, the Binibining Pilipinas Charities, Inc. (BPCI) board member Miss Conchitina Bernardo, and an artist, Betsy Westendorp. (Press Release)
Intermission number by Miss Chadleen Lacdo-o, a singer, Operation Smile Beneficiary and ABS CBN talents was also part of the event. Mr. Sam Concepcion also sang a number after all of the 16 candidates was done with showcasing their talents.

The talent portion is just part of choosing the winner for the Bb. Pilipinas. The grand coronation night will be held at Smart Araneta Coliseum and will have a live telecast in ABS-CBN on April 14, 2013.
