The 6th Alaska IronKids was held last March 11, 2017 at Wow Recreation and Activity Center in Subic Bay FreePort. This year there more than 150 participants from 6 to 14 years old joined the event. Alaska IronKids is a local junior version of the international triathlon series, Ironman. It is great that children can learn the values of discipline, determination, hard work, sportsmanship and persistence at a very young age with the help of Alaska IronKids.
“Alaska IronKids aims to promote a well-balanced lifestyle for kids of today, who are used to staying indoors with TV, video game console and the Internet as companions. Ironkids is also the perfect venue for families to bond and for parents to demonstrate in in ‘real-time’ that being healthy can also be fun,” says Mr. Wilfred Uytengsu, President of Alaska Milk Corporation.
The kids had so much fun. You can see it in their eyes. It was also an opportunity for them to bond with their families. Some parents are also participants of IronMan and IronKids game the kids a chance to fully bond with their parents and even siblings.
Mr. Juan Francisco “Wacky” Baniqued is the defending champion of the boys category 13-14 years old. He finished with a time of 42 minutes and 31 seconds. He has been a participant of the Alaska IronKids since he was seven years old. He won 4 Alaska IronKids event in 2015 and even won 3 out 4 race last year, losing the other one was because he missed the aquathlon race.
