#BasaPinas: Launching of The Philippine Pages

September 26, 2016

The Philippine Pages (TPP) is a non-school-affiliated organization founded by Lance Patrick Ty, a sophomore from Xavier School—and aims to, as their name and shirts suggest, “reach dreams, one book at a time.” When asked for the organization’s backstory, he pointed to PKK, Xavier’s summer enrichment program for public school students, as where it all began. “I had a PKK student who was in fourth grade yet still didn’t know how to read; I was moved to give children like him access to books and reading materials, things we fortunately grew up with.”

With the help of some friends, Lance successfully started The Philippine Pages (TPP). Volunteers from different schools were able to join the organization by signing up online. Its co-founder, Keith Uy, said that with positive feedback from the public, he was “excited, because for the first time [I] helped start something possibly big.”
