If you have been following my reading journey, you know how much I love compact e-readers. Today, I want to talk about the Xteink X4 Classic and share three things that make this device a true keeper for my daily reading routine.

1. Real Time Clock (RTC)
One of the biggest upgrades for me is the Real Time Clock. Having an RTC means I can finally get much better reading stats on my device. I actually own the discontinued X4, and while I really love its pocketable size, the lack of an RTC always held it back for me. Because of that limitation, I constantly found myself leaning toward using my X3 instead. With the X4 Classic, that issue is completely solved, and I can now track my reading time accurately without reaching for another device.
2. Button Placement
Ergonomics matter a lot when you spend hours holding an e-reader, and button layout can truly make or break the experience. Personally, I always preferred the button placement of the X3 over my discontinued X4. The X4 Classic fixes this by adopting a button layout similar to the X3. It feels so natural and comfortable in the hand, making page turns seamless whether I am reading on the couch or on the go.
3. Pogo Pin Charging
There has been some talk and mixed opinions about the lack of a standard USB-C port, but honestly, I do not get the hate at all. In fact, I actually prefer the pogo pins. With pogo pins, I never have to worry about pocket lint or dust building up inside an open USB-C port. I really dislike using silicone dust plugs because they feel awkward and inconvenient whenever I hold the device.
Battery life is another reason why this is a non-issue for me. Even though I read around four to six hours every single day, I rarely have to plug in my Xteink devices. I only end up charging this reader about once every two weeks. On top of that, pogo pin adapters are very affordable, and I already keep a couple of spares lying around. The absence of USB-C does not bother me one bit.
The Xteink X4 Classic brings together the pocketable form factor I loved from earlier models with the everyday practical tweaks that make long reading sessions an absolute breeze.
