LaCie, the premium brand from Seagate Technology recently announced the availability of a new line of LaCie Porsche Design Drives and LaCie Rugged mobile drives in the Philippines. These new products were first showcased at Power Mac Center located at Power Plant Mall.
LaCie Porsche Design Drives
Housed in sleek all-aluminum enclosures that reflect the signature Porsche Design style, the new Mobile and Desktop Drives feature forward-thinking USB-C connectivity for next generation computers like the latest MacBook.
Its new USB-C connector makes the drive incredibly easy to connect, since both ends of the cable are identical and the connector is reversible. The drives also deliver fast transfer speeds, so users can drag and drop files and perform backups quickly. Plus, they are compatible with standard USB 3.0 (Type-A) ports thanks to the included adapter cable.
By harnessing the power of USB 3.1, the LaCie Porsche Design Desktop Drive will charge a compatible laptop’s battery* when the drive’s power supply is connected to the wall outlet. Via a single USB-C cable, users can power their notebook and access their drive at the same time.
Both the Mobile and Desktop Drives feature all-aluminum enclosures to make the products lightweight yet sturdy, while forming the distinctly Porsche Design modern and elegant style. Beyond aesthetics, the solid aluminum enclosure is also scratch resistant, protects the hard drive mechanics and dissipates heat for optimal performance.
LaCie Rugged DRIVES
With its durability, performance and data security, the LaCie Rugged family, design by Neil Poulton, has been the preferred all-terrain storage by creative professionals on the go.
LaCie Rugged RAID offers twice the speed and capacity of a standard mobile hard drive**. It is also the only product in its class to feature hardware RAID 0 and 1, which lets professionals optimize the product for speed or data security according to their workflow.
LaCie Rugged RAID features Thunderbolt and USB 3.0 along with two internal hard drives that are preconfigured in hardware RAID 0 for sustained performance of up to 240 MB/s***. With this speed, users can transfer 64 GB of content in less than five minutes, and even start to edit photos in the field with Adobe® Lightroom. This time savings is key for field-based professionals who collect and move tons of data onto external storage.
When choosing RAID 1 (mirrored mode), the data is duplicated across the two drives. So, even if a single drive fails in the field, the data remains accessible from the other drive. This is especially helpful to on-the-go professionals with limited laptop capacity.
With 4TB capacity, the LaCie Rugged can store the equivalent of sixty 64 GB memory cards. This allows professionals to carry fewer drives while acquiring more photos, footage, and other types of content in the field.
LaCie Rugged RAID is tested to withstand drops▲ of up to 1.5 meters (5 feet) and being run over by a 1-ton car▲▲. With its cap in place, the LaCie Rugged is IP 54-rated for superior resistance to dust and water splashing – even during operation. It also includes LaCie Private-Public software, which lets users password-protect the entire drive or only certain volumes with AES 256-bit encryption.
The LaCie Rugged Triple Hard Disk provides speeds of USB 3.0 and FireWire 800, with superior durability that users have come to expect. It offers universal connectivity as it is fully backward compatible with FireWire 400 and USB 2.0.
These new LaCie products were first showcased by Power Mac Center, a LaCie Partner. With the added Rugged mobile drives, Power Mac Center is the first in the country to offer the complete range of the LaCie Rugged family.

AVAILABILITY
The LaCie Rugged RAID, LaCie Rugged Triple and LaCie Porsche Design Drives will be available this June 2016 at select Power Mac Center stores and LaCie Resellers.
The LaCie Porsche Design Mobile Drive will be available in 1TB, 2TB and 4TB capacities starting at PHP 6,990, whereas the LaCie Porsche Design Desktop Drive comes in 4TB, 5TB and 8TB capacities starting at PHP12,490.
The LaCie Rugged RAID comes in 4TB at PHP 24,999. The LaCie Rugged Triple drive is at PHP 8,899 (1TB) and PHP 12,999 (2TB).
