Global automotive brand GAC International made an impressive mark at the 13th Philippine Electric Vehicle Summit (PEVS) with the launch of two all-new electric vehicles, the AION V and HYPTEC HT, alongside the Philippine debut of its global strategic model, the AION UT.
Carrying the theme “GAC Global Ecosystem: Leading a New Era of Green Mobility in the Philippines,” the showcase underscored GAC’s commitment to advancing sustainable transportation and localizing innovation for Filipino drivers.
Powering the Future of Green Mobility
GAC introduced the AION V and HYPTEC HT as part of its expanding line of battery electric vehicles (BEVs), while also presenting the AION UT for the first time in the country following its success in Thailand.
The company also featured two new hybrid models—the M8 PHEV and EMKOO HEV—demonstrating a comprehensive approach to electrification that spans pure electric and hybrid technologies. This move reflects GAC’s long-term strategy to accelerate electric mobility adoption across Southeast Asia.
AION V: Everyday Practicality Meets Electric Power
Designed for modern families and professionals, the AION V combines safety, practicality, and high performance. It features GAC’s advanced Magazine Battery 2.0, engineered for top-tier safety and durability, even under extreme impact. The vehicle offers a CLTC-rated range of 520 km and can charge from 30 to 80 percent in just 16 minutes using DC fast charging.
Built with a 2,775 mm wheelbase and suspension tuned for Philippine road conditions, the AION V provides a comfortable and spacious ride that caters to the needs of daily urban driving.
HYPTEC HT: Redefining Luxury and Intelligent Design
The HYPTEC HT represents GAC’s vision for premium electric mobility. This flagship SUV is equipped with dual-stage electric gullwing doors, Nappa leather interiors, reclining rear seats, and a 14.6-inch HD infotainment display powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8155 chip.
Its submarine-grade steel body structure ensures top-tier safety, while its refined design and advanced features highlight GAC’s dedication to both innovation and luxury.
AION UT: Smart Style for the New Generation
Making its Philippine debut, the AION UT is tailored for younger, tech-savvy drivers seeking a mix of style, intelligence, and efficiency. Following a highly successful rollout in Thailand—with over 1,000 deliveries in just 39 days—the AION UT offers an exciting glimpse into GAC’s upcoming electric lineup for the Philippine market.
M8 PHEV and EMKOO HEV: Expanding GAC’s Electrified Range
Alongside its fully electric models, GAC also displayed its hybrid offerings, the M8 PHEV and EMKOO HEV. The M8 PHEV, a luxurious plug-in hybrid MPV, offers a smooth, quiet ride with powerful performance and elegant design. Meanwhile, the EMKOO HEV stands out as an intelligent hybrid SUV, balancing sportiness with exceptional fuel efficiency.
Together, these models reflect GAC’s mission to offer Filipino consumers a wide range of eco-conscious mobility options.
Driving Localization Through ONE GAC 2.0
GAC’s growth in the Philippines is guided by its “ONE GAC 2.0” strategy, which emphasizes localization, partnerships, and value creation. Since entering the Philippine market in 2018, GAC has built a network of more than 30 dealerships and service centers, establishing itself as one of the fastest-growing automotive brands in the country.
In 2024, GAC achieved a 65 percent year-on-year sales increase, demonstrating the growing trust of Filipino car buyers in the brand’s quality and aftersales service.
“Our localization strategy has been the foundation of our success,” said Calvin Cheng, General Manager of GAC International Philippines. “Beyond introducing new vehicles, we are investing in long-term partnerships, creating jobs, and building a stronger EV ecosystem in the Philippines.”
