Whether our smartphones should use a case or not has been debated for years. Some people like to put phone cases for aesthetic reasons. If you are planning to resell your phone after a while, it has a lower value if it has a lot scratches on it. After all, who wants to buy an abused phone? Even if we are buying something second-hand, as much as possible, we want it to look as brand new as possible. You would see ads like “screen protected and with case since Day 1” or something like “99.99% smoothness front and back.” These ads have a higher value than those phones that’s full of scratches. For some people, they use cases because of their Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD). They don’t want their phone to look dirty and full of scratches. It’s easy to buy a new case, but not a phone. So most of the people who have OCD would rather buy a new case rather than a new phone. Some people use cases just for the design. Especially for iPhones, they are a lot of cases to choose from. This is one of the reasons why I like iPhones. It’s because of the vast choices for smartphone case.
The answer to the questions is probably depending on your lifestyle and of course, preference. Yes, the manufacturers spend hours, days and months on designing the smartphone and using a case is like an insult to their hard work, but, what if your lifestyle just won’t fit to these “naked phone style?” For example, if you are a businessman, you probably needed to be all around and needs to give out business cards most of the time Wouldn’t be it more convenient if you have your cards on your hands always? I’m sure these guys hold their phones for almost 90% of the time and having the business cards with them always is very convenient.
