Who says beaches, resorts, mountains and falls are the only places you should visit when you travel? Visiting Catholic Churches in the Philippines can be also fun! Aside from the fact that it’s good to make a wish if it’s your first time in this church, the churches in the Philippines have a good architectural design.
The Transfiguration of Our Lord Parish, also known as the Cavinti Church, is located in Cavinti, Laguna, Philippines. It was built in 1621. It’s almost 400 years old. But still standing. Still in good shape. It is the only Roman Catholic Church in Cavinti, Laguna (Wikipedia) so it’s really a must-visit place if you’re around the area. Their patron saint is El Salvador del Mundo (Divine Savior of the World). Their feast day is August 6.
The highlight of the church is the bell tower. It’s not really open to public, but of course, you can always talk to the priest or someone in charge to visit the bell tower. After all, it’s worth it. It’s overlooking Cavinti, Laguna. At the bell tower, it has one big bell in the middle, with four smaller bells surrounding it. The sound of the bell is sacred, so please, don’t pull that string just for fun.
Although the visit was just for a few minutes, if you are able to visit the bell tower, then it’s more than enough. Don’t forget to make a wish if it’s your first time in this church. If you are around the area, I highly suggest you visit Pueblo El Salvador Nature’s Park and Picnic Grove. Your visit in Cavinti would be incomplete if you won’t see the beauty of the Cavinti Falls.
